Guide Dogs Australia, in collaboration with its state and territory-based organisations, delivers essential services to Australians living with blindness or low vision. Their mission is to assist people who are blind or have low vision gain the freedom and independence to move safely and confidently around their communities, and to fulfil their potential. Guide Dogs Australia wants to see a world where everybody who needs a Guide Dog, has a Guide Dog.
Assistance Dogs Australia
Assistance Dogs Australia trains and places unique dogs with Australians in unique situations. Assistance Dogs Australia train dogs that specialise in support for people with a physical disability, autism or PTSD. Assistance Dogs Australia also provide a range of services to these individuals and their families. ADA’s assistance dogs provide independence, self-esteem, improved health and relationships to individuals and families, resulting in stronger and more successful communities.
Mackillop Family Services
The Mackillop Family Services Paw Pals Program supports students who are currently disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. The program focuses on building student engagement and confidence through animal assisted activities and individualised learning sessions working alongside trained therapy dogs. Paw Pals aims to provide students with a positive learning environment, encouraging them to quickly develop trust and increased self-esteem as an independent learner.
Sydney Dogs & Cats Home
Sydney Dogs and Cats Home responsibly reunites, rehomes and rehabilitates companion animals, whilst providing the highest level of service to the wider community. They provide shelter, food and veterinary care to lost, homeless and abandoned animals in association with the local councils of Sydney. They also support residents of the wider community through their animal-assisted programs that positively impact the residents, with a focus on youth mental health, injured defence personnel and aged care.
Smart Pups
Smart Pups Assistance Dogs have a profound effect on the everyday lives of children with special needs. Trained in task-specific skills, Smart Pups improve children’s independence and quality of life. Smart Pups train and place autism service dogs, seizure response dogs and multi-purpose assistance dogs. This unique form of early intervention therapy has a profound effect on the day-to-day lives of children and their families, making a positive change that keeps growing.
Safe Pets Safe Families
Safe Pets Safe Families work with people and pets in crises to improve outcomes and reduce the occurrence of surrender, animal abuse, neglect and euthanasia. SPSF help to keep pets of individuals or families going through difficult times, due to homelessness, mental health, domestic violence or sickness, united with their owners. Through their dedicated network of volunteers, Safe Pets Safe Families provide a range of support services including temporary foster care of pets, vet services and donated goods.
Riding for the Disabled
Riding for the Disabled Association of Tasmania, provides services to people of all ages with disabilities to enable them to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating, therapeutic, horse-related activities. Their mission is to enable people living with disabilities to experience enjoyment, challenges and a sense of achievement through equestrian activities to improve their quality of life, attain personal goals and develop life skills.
Pets of the Homeless
Pets of the Homeless provides support to people who are at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness, by making sure their companion pets are well looked after. Pets of the Homeless provides food, veterinary care and other support to pet owners in need to ensure they stay united with their companion that provides company, protection and unconditional love. They help keep vulnerable people and their pets together by alleviating the burden of providing essential pet care during times of hardship.
HorsePower Australia
HorsePower Australia empowers people living with “diversabilities” to develop new skills, discover new abilities and define the life they want to live. Welcoming people of all ages, HorsePower provide opportunities for individuals to enjoy stimulating, therapeutic, educational and recreational activities. Programs offered are of great benefit to those living with a wide range of diversabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, depression and anxiety, spina bifida, down syndrome and at-risk youth.
ACT Pegasus
ACT Pegasus (Riding for the Disabled) aim to enrich the lives of people with a disability through the delivery of horse-facilitated therapy. They offer a unique service of tailored horse and rural activities to people with disabilities in the ACT and local NSW region. They have a strong group of dedicated volunteers who promote inclusion and are available to assist at all times.
Save a Horse Australia
Save A Horse rescues neglected, abused and surrendered horses before rehabilitating and rehoming them to a forever home. Save A Horse raises community awareness of the welfare of horses through education, partnerships and outreach.
Cowboys 4 Kids
Cowboys 4 Kids works with children within the foster care system, by providing an equine-therapy program that intervenes in the lives of children who have experienced severe trauma from a young age. Cowboys 4 Kids have developed a broad, holistic approach to their education, which aims to help the children identify and develop healthy mindsets for physical, occupational and emotional growth.
Pet Medical Crisis
Pet Medical Crisis ensure Australian Pensioners who are struggling financially have the opportunity to give their loved pet the best chance of survival when veterinary care is needed. The charity empowers owners by providing their loved pet with veterinary care.
Animal Therapies Limited
Animal Therapies Ltd is advancing the understanding, acceptance and accessibility of animal-assisted services for those suffering trauma, disability and adversity. It offers an impartial lens creating linkages, partnerships and joint initiatives between recipients, the private, public, education & community sectors.
Hope For Our Children
Hope for our Children supports children who are facing difficult situations that most children never face in a life time comfort through the help of their therapy dog program. Weather this be while unwell in the Paediatric ward, the Youth mental health ward, the local hospice, or the Courthouse – providing comfort, distraction and peace to our most vulnerable.
Very Special Kids
Very Special Kids aims to support children with a life limiting condition find and sustain hope. Very Special Kids’ therapy dog program plays a critical role in providing children and young people with life-limiting conditions the best quality of life possible. The program aims to improve the overall wellbeing of seriously ill children and young people in Very Special Kids’ care through positive contact and interactions.
NZRDA
NZRDA is a member association made up of over 50 local RDA groups who are in local communities throughout New Zealand. The core purpose of NZRDA is to provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs. NZRDA aim to enable and support disabled people to achieve good lives including meaningful participation in, and contribution to, important life activities and roles in their community.
Second Chance Animal Rescue
Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation that relies heavily on donations to continue our lifesaving work in the community. The organisation rescue, rehome and rehabilitate displaced and abandoned pets, and support vulnerable pet owners through tough times by keeping their pets happy, healthy and at home.
Hoofbeats Sanctuary
Hoofbeats Sanctuary is a trauma-healing centre that brings people, animals and nature together to improve the emotional well-being of some of the most vulnerable members of our community – women and children living with mental health challenges resulting from complex trauma.
